Dorothy B. (Walter) Thomas

Dorothy B. Thomas, age 95, formerly of 9 Earl Avenue, Shelby, died Wednesday, December 22, 1999 at the West View Manor Nursing Home in Wooster after an extended illness.

Mrs. Thomas was born May 7, 1904 in Cardington, Ohi,o the daughter of David Miles and Emma Idella (Moorehead) Walter. She was an employee of the Sandy and Andy Childrens Shop in Shelby for over 28 years. She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Shelby where she was active in the Altar Guild. She was a wonderful seamstress and created many garments for area residents for many years.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Audrey Thomas of Wooster; 3 grandchildren and spouses: Douglas and Kathy Thomas, Charles and Amy Thomas, Nancy and Jim Grifo; 7 great grandchildren: Hannah, David, Jacob, Julia, Emily, Kelsey, and Lauren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry Thomas in 1928; her son, Robert Thomas in 1997; and 3 sisters: Mary Willis, Rhoda Miller, and Hattie Clark.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday, December 28, 1999 from 10:00-11:00 AM at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Shelby, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM with Father John Jorden officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to the Church and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, Ohio.
