Dorothy (Adkins) Steele

Dorothy Steele, age 60, of 109 Walnut Street, died Saturday afternoon, in the Crestwood Care Center after an extended illness. She was born February 5, 1931 in Morgan County, Kentucky, the daughter of Elwood and Nannie (Ferguson) Adkins.

Mrs. Steele retired in 1965 as employee of the former Standard Tube Company and later was a cook at the Spinning Wheel Restaurant. She was a member of the First Church of God on State Route 39 South.

Mrs Steele is survived by her husband, Charles D. Steele, whom she married on December 1, 1949; 3 sons: Roger D. Steele, Rick D. Steele, and Charles W. Steele all of Shelby; 1 daughter: Mrs. Duane (Vicki) Weaver of Columbus; 6 grandchildren; 5 brothers: Rev. S.T. Adkins, John C. Adkins, Robert Elwood Adkins, and Rev. Gary Adkins all of Shelby and Earl Adkins of Wooster; 5 sisters: Mrs. Marion (Della) Neeley of Shelby, Mrs. Henry (Claris) Kemplin of Mansfield, Mrs. James (Mary) Amburgey and Mrs. Charles (Wanda) Jones both of Middletown, Ohio, and Mrs. Larry (Phyllis) Hamons of Willard.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at the First Church Of God, State Route 39 South, with her pastor the Rev. Tim E. Schrock and her brother the Rev. S.T. Adkins, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Calling hours will be today from 1-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home.

Memorial expressions may be made to the Mansfield General Hospice and left in care of the funeral home.
