DORIS MARGARET HARNLY, AGE 76, OF 1100A WESTBURY MEWS DRIVE, SUMMERVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA, AND FORMERLY OF SOUTH GAMBLE STREET IN SHELBY, DIED TUESDAY EVENING , JANUARY 28, 1997, IN THE BURN UNIT AT THE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA IN CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA.
SHE WAS BORN MARCH 16, 1920 IN BLOOMINGROVE TOWNSHIP, ROME, OHIO THE DAUGHTER OF RALPH AND JOSEPHINE (TULLIS) DAUP.
MRS. HARNLY WAS A FORMER EMPLOYEE OF WILKINS AIR FORCE DEPOT CAFETERIA. SHE HAD MANAGED JEFF’S FINE FOOD RESTAURANT IN MANSFIELD, AND HAD WORKED IN THE DIETARY DEPARTMENT AT DUNLAP MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN ORRVILLE. SHE ALSO WORKED AT SHELBY BUSINESS FORMS AND RETIRED FROM THE A.M.F. COMPANY IN SHELBY.
SHE WAS A LONG TIME AND ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN SHELBY, AND HAD JOINED BETHANY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN SUMMERVILLE AFTER MOVING THERE IN AUGUST OF 1996. SHE WAS A 1937 GRADUATE OF SHILOH HIGH SCHOOL.
MRS. HARNLY IS SURVIVED BY HER HUSBAND, WALLACE A. HARNLY WHOM SHE MARRIED ON NOVEMBER 23, 1939; A DAUGHTER AND SON-IN-LAW, WALLIS ANN AND HENRY GILLAM OF SUMMERVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA; A SON AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, CRAIG AND PATRICIA HARNLY OF ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS; 4 GRANDCHILDREN; 3 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN; 5 STEP GRANDCHILDREN; 9 STEP GREAT GRANDCHILDREN; 1 BROTHER AND 2 SISTERS-IN-LAW, HAROLD AND BETTY DAUP OF ASHLAND, OHIO; AND KATHLEEN DAUP OF SHELBY.
SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER PARENTS AND BY A BROTHER, ELLSWORTH DAUP IN 1996.
CALLING HOURS WILL BE ON FRIDAY FROM 2-4 AND 7-9 P.M. AT THE TURNER FUNERAL HOME IN SHELBY. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE ON SATURDAY AT 10:00 A.M. AT THE FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN SHELBY WITH HER PASTOR, REV. JEFF MATTHEWS OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN MT. HOPE CEMETERY IN SHILOH.
MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS MAY BE MADE TO THE BURN UNIT AT THE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND LEFT IN CARE OF THE TURNER FUNERAL HOME, 168 WEST MAIN STREET, SHELBY, OHIO 44875.
