Donald Elzy Clark, Sr.

Donald Elzy Clark, Sr., age 87, of Mansfield, died Monday, April 30, 2012 at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
Don was born July 30, 1924 in Freeport, Harrison County, Ohio to the late John Elzy and Marjorie Elizabeth (Steffey) Clark and was a graduate of Freeport High School. On August 25, 1946 he married Ruth Mary Smith and she preceded him in death on May 22, 2011. Don was an army veteran serving at the end of WWII in Korea as a medical tech. Mr. Clark spent his entire life in the agricultural business as a farmer, feed store operator, milkman, manager at Swartz Potato Farm, salesman for Tennessee Corporation, was a partner at Richland Chemical in Shelby, and was the owner of Rural Farm Distributors, Knox County Citizen, and Dempster Industries in Nebraska.
Don was a member of Clay Memorial Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of FFA and The Grange, was a member of Shelby Sertoma, and was a former board member of Crestwood Care Center in Shelby and Good Shepherd Home in Ashland. Don and his wife, Ruth, were part of the People to People Organization and traveled extensively around the world with them.
Mr. Clark is survived by his children: Marjorie (Steven) Guthrie, of Mansfield, Linda Clark (Roger Guertner), of Scottsdale, AZ, Donald Elzy II Butch (Toni) Clark, of Bellville, Sara Ruth Clark, of Mansfield; son-in-law and spouse: John Timothy (Marlene) Krisko, of Ashland; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter: Donna Krisko in 1978; 3 siblings: Dean Clark, John Jack Clark, Helen Schultz.
Friends may call on Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 6-8 pm at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby and also on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 10-11 am at Clay Memorial Lutheran Church where funeral services will be held at 11 am. Pastor Carol Kilgore will officiate and burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the church.
