Don E. “Max” Light

Don E. “Max” Light, age 71, of 5510 Ganges Five Points Road, Shelby, died Tuesday afternoon , April 9, 1996, at his home after an extended illness. He was born November 25, 1924 in Shelby, the son of the late Harry Lawrence and Aosta Beatrice (Shatzer) Light.

Mr. Light graduated in 1942 from Shelby High School and attended Ashland University. He was the retired owner of Light Insurance Service in Shelby. Mr. Light was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Mansfield and was an Air Force Veteran.

Mr. Light is survived by his wife Helen (Whitcomb) Light, whom he married on September 5, 1960; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Sue Alfrey of Newark, Ohio and Dale and Diana Alfrey of Shelby; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Melody and Jeff Kent of Powell, Ohio; 7 grandchildren; 1 brother, Haldon Light of Atlanta, Georgia.

Calling hours will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with his pastor, Rev. Don Cox officiating. Burial will be in Ganges Cemetery.
