Dolores Jean Hartz

Dolores Jean Hartz, 69, of 152 Poplar St., Shelby, died unexpectedly, Friday, December 17, 2004 at her home.

She was born September 5, 1935 in Mansfield, Ohio the daughter of the late Earl M. and Josephine (Rock) Brooks. She was a homemaker and was a former employee of Cornell’s IGA in Shelby. She helped her husband Bob, for many years at the family farm. She was an active member of Taylortown Community Church and Taylortown Women’s Organization. She enjoyed baby-sitting with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting those who were sick or shut-in. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, and a variety of crafts.

Jean is survived by a son, Robert Hartz, of Shelby; 2 daughters and spouses, Linda and David Stephens of Shiloh, Becky and Craig Goetz of Lexington; 8 grandchildren, Brent, Jessica, Sierra, and Landon Goetz, and Ashley and Jamie Stephens; 3 brothers and spouses, Charles Bill and Alma Brooks of Shelby, James and Glenda Brooks of Shelby, Tom Brooks of Shelby; Brother-in-law Kenny Bishop of Wadsworth, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Hartz on September 27, 2000, a sister, Shirley Bea Bishop, and a sister-in-law, Janice Brooks.

Friends may call on Tuesday, December 21, 2004 from 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main St., Shelby and one hour prior to the funeral Services which will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM at the Taylortown Community Church in Shelby. Rev. O. Douglas Tackett and Rev. Jack Tackett will officiate. Burial will be in Richland Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice.
