Dick Beelman Shepherd
Dick B. Shepherd, age 82, of 86 Grand Blvd. Ext., Shelby, died Saturday, December 22, 2001 at Med Central Mansfield Hospital after a short illness.
He was born October 9, 1919 in Mansfield, Ohio, the son of Neal and Romain (Beelman) Shepherd. Mr. Shepherd was a 1938 graduate of Shiloh High School and was an Army Air Corp vereran of WWII, having served as a staff seargent in England, Africa, Italy, and France. He was a retired 40+ year employee of the Shelby Business Forms and was a member of First United Methodist Church and former member of Shelby American Legion, O’Brien Post #326.
Mr. Shepherd is survived by his wife, Jean (Beach) Shepherd whom he wed on April 12, 1946; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law: Kim and Bonnie Shepherd of Westerville, and Lee Shepherd of Shelby; a daughter: Mary Jo Shepherd of East Windsor, NJ; 5 grandchildren: Matt Shepherd, Stacey Shepherd, Mary Bolin, Laura Fullen, and Justin Powell; 6 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law: Annabelle Shepherd of Sandusky; his pets and constant companions: Benjamin and Angel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers: James Shepherd and Daniel Shepherd, and an infant sister.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, December 23,2001, from 7-9 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby and also from 10-11 AM on Monday, December 24, 2001 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Monday by Rev. Jeff Matthews. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby with military honors.
Memorial expressions may be made to the Richland County Humane Society, Shelby Home and Public Health, or First United Methodist Church.
