David E. Walker, Sr.
David E. Walker, Sr., age 89, of 22 Morningside Drive, Shelby, died Friday afternoon in Crestline Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was born October 4, 1898 in Shelby, the Son of David E. and Mary Ann (Wilkinson) Walker.
Mr. Walker is survived by 2 sons: Richard E. Walker of Loudonville, and David F. Walker of Shelby; 2 daughters: Mrs. Jan (Mary Ann) Dick of Shelby and Mrs. Leo (Jayne) Anatra of Crestline; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; 2 sisters-in-law: Doris Walker of Plymouth and Odeal Dick of Shelby.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred F. (Kibler) Walker, in 1985, and by 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
As a young man, Mr. Walker worked at the Curtis Publishing Co. in Philadelphia, PA. He retired from the Shelby Sales Book Co. after 51 years of service. He was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Shelby.
Services will be held Monday at 2:00 P.M. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church with his pastor the Rev. Sidney Breese officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the services at St. Mark’s Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’ Episcopal Church or the charity of the donor’s choice and left at the Turner Funeral Home who is handling the funeral arrangements.
