Daniel Lewis Cole
DANIEL LEWIS COLE, AGE 84, OF 3651 SWISHER ROAD, CRESTLINE, DIED FRIDAY AFTERNOON , NOVEMBER 1, 1996 IN GALION COMMUNITY HOSPITAL AFTER A SHORT ILLNESS. HE WAS BORN FEBRUARY 23, 1912 IN CRESTLINE, THE SON OF HARVEY E. AND CHRISTINA (PRY) COLE.
MR. COLE WAS A GRADUATE OF LEESVILLE HIGH SCHOOL AND THE CLEVELAND SCHOOL OF WELDING. HE WAS A FARMER AND RETIRED SCHOOL BUS DRIVER FOR LEESVILLE AND COLONEL CRAWFORD SCHOOL DISTRICTS.
MR. COLE WAS THE PAST PRESIDENT OF: THE LEESVILLE SCHOOL BOARD, CRAWFORD COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION, THE FORMER GALION EQUITY EXCHANGE, AND THE BIDDLE CEMETERY ASSOCIATION. HE WAS PAST CHAIRMAN OF THE CRAWFORD COUNTY AGRICULTURAL STABILIZATION CONSERVATION SERVICE AND A PAST MEMBER OF THE CRAWFORD COUNTY COUNCIL ON AGING.
HE IS A MEMBER OF THE TIRO UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, WHERE HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE QUESTORS SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS AND WAS A FORMER TRUSTEE. HE WAS CURRENTLY SERVING AS THE TREASURER OF THE LEESVILLE GRANGE.
MR. COLE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE, ISABELLE (McKEAN) COLE, WHOM HE WED ON NOVEMBER 16, 1941; 1 DAUGHTER AND SON-IN-LAW, PRISCILLA AND THOMAS LAUGHBAUM OF RURAL CRESTLINE; 1 SON AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, JAMES AND SHIRLEY COLE OF RURAL CRESTLINE; 6 GRANDCHILDREN; 1 SISTER, FREDA HOOVER OF TAMPA, FLORIDA; HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY A SISTER, KATHRYN COLE.
CALLING HOURS WILL BE ON SUNDAY FROM 2-5 AND 7-9 P.M. AT THE TURNER FUNERAL HOME IN SHELBY. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY AT 2;00 P.M. AT THE TIRO UNITED METHODIST CHURCH WITH REV. GAIL ANGEL OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN BIDDLE CEMETERY.
