Cynthia Ellen (Lundy) Powers

Cynthia Ellen Powers, age 74, formerly of 59 Park Village, Shelby, died Monday, November 20, 2000 at the Winchester Terrace Nursing Home in Mansfield after a long illness.

She was born May 11, 1926 in Jenkins, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Walter and Mabel (Mullins) Lundy. Mrs. Powers was a homemaker and was a member of the Shelby Rizpah Chapter #153 Order of Eastern Star. At the age of 38, Mrs. Powers went back to school to finish her senior year of high school and graduated with the senior class of Ontario High School in 1965 at the age of 39.

She is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Charles Samuel and Rita Powers of Shelby, and Steve and Kathy Powers of South Carolina; 2 daughters: Geanneane Powers and Sharon Berry both of Mansfield; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 sister: Lucy Hale of Coeburn, VA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Powers, on December 13, 1989.

Calling hours will be on Friday, November 24, 2000, from noon-1 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held at 1PM with Rev. Garry Guiffre officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh.
