Clayton L. “John” Rogers

Clayton L. John Rogers, age 75, of 598 South Gamble Street, Shelby, died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, August 9, 2005.

He was born August 10, 1929 in Akron, Ohio the son of the late Homer and Hazel (Trainor) Rogers. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and retired from White Westinghouse in Mansfield. He was a member of the Lexington Elks, Shelby Owls, Shelby VFW George Broderick Post #291, and Shelby American Legion O’Brien Post # 326. John enjoyed camping and recently purchased a 1972 red MG Midget convertible, which he was very proud to drive, however, his greatest pride and joy were his granddaughters.

John is survived by his wife, Rose (Rybiski) Rogers whom he wed on August 12, 1952; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Robert Marty McKinney of Shelby; a son, Clayton C. Rogers of Shelby; 2 granddaughters, Catherine and Anna McKinney of Shelby; a sister, Betty Ivan of California; and a close family friend, Richard Koontz of Shelby. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 half brothers and a special aunt, Dora Combs.

At Clayton’s John’s request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Memorial expressions may be made to the American Heart Association. Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, is in charge of the arrangements.
