CLAYTON ARGO, AGE 79, 0F 4166 STATE ROUTE 61 SOUTH, SHELBY, DIED UNEXPECTEDLY SUNDAY MORNING, FEBRUARY 18, 1996, AT HIS HOME. HE WAS BORN JUNE 2, 1916 IN SCRANTON, KENTUCKY THE SON OF ELI J. AND MARY BELLE (STATON) ARGO.

MR. ARGO RETIRED IN 1976 FROM COPPERWELD-SHELBY DIVISION AFTER 40 YEARS OF SERVICE. HE WAS A MEMBER OF TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN SHELBY. HE WAS AN AIR FORCE VETERAN OF WWII SERVING IN THE EUROPEAN THEATRE.

HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE SYLVIA M. (JENKINS) ARGO WHOM HE MARRIED ON AUGUST 12, 1939; 3 DAUGHTERS AND 2 SONS-IN-LAWS, JAY AND BEVERLY WEAKLAND OF TUCSON, ARIZONA; JANET HALL OF SHELBY; IRBY AND ELAINE WALKER OF HEADLAND, ALABAMA; 1 SON AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, JAMES AND JACKIE ARGO OF ONTARIO, OHIO; 8 GRANDCHILDREN; 10 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN.

HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, 1 SISTER, RUBY MAE WALLACE AND 1 BROTHER, ARIL ARGO.

CALLING HOURS WILL BE ON TUESDAY FROM 2-4 AND 7-9 P.M. AT THE TURNER FUNERAL HOME IN SHELBY, WHERE FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY AT 11;00 A.M. WITH REV. J. MALCOLM BROOK OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN OAKLAND CEMETERY IN SHELBY, WITH MILITARY HONORS.

MEMORIALS MAY BE MADE TO THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY OR TO THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION.
