Claud G. “Alabam” Landers
Claud G. “Alabam” Landers, age 84, of 53 East Whitney Avenue, Shelby, died Saturday morning, February 9, 2002 at Med Central Shelby Hospital after a short illness.
Mr. Landers was born April 28, 1917 in Bowden, Carroll County, Georgia, the son of the late Henry Francis and Ethel (Ragsdale) Landers. He had been employed at AMF, Miller Products, and the Shelby Sales Book. He was a member of VFW George Broderick post #291. He was a Navy veteran of WWII serving as a ship’s cook from 1941-1947.
He is survived by 2 sisters: Laura DeWalt of Shelby and Clarice Noble of Cullman, Alabama; a half-sister Vivian Bailey of Cullman, Alabama; a half-brother, W.C. Landers of Birmingham, Alabama; Special friends and caregivers: Brenda and George (Bernie) Highfield of Shelby.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lillian Ewalt.
Graveside services will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery in Randolph County, Alabama. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. The Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
