Claud Barber

Claud Barber, 85, of 5058 Renie Road, Bellville, and formerly of Settlement East Road in Shelby, died Saturday, Sept. 19,1998, at his home after a short illness.

Mr. Barber was born August 13, 1913, in Paragon, Kentucky, the son of Clay and Virginia (Utterback) Barber. He retired from the State of Ohio as a pressure piping inspector. Prior to that, he worked through the Steamfitters and Plumbers Local #637. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Shelby, where he had been chairman of the Board ofTrustees and was an elder and deacon. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theatre.

He is survived by 1 son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Rebecca Barber of Shelby; 2
daughters and sons-in-law: Joan and Ken Jones of Bellville, Ohio, and Brenda and Larry Dininger of Mansfield; 4 grand- children: Dawn Barber, Kurt Barber, Sara Dininger and Kristen Dininger. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna L. (Richardson) Barber in 1995, a grandson,
Trent Barber in 1987, and by 4 brothers: Harley, Kit, Carl and Ray Barber, and his twin sister, Maude Lybarger in 1998.

Calling hours will be on Monday from 6-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Craig Jones officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby, where the Joint Veterans Council will conduct full military rites. Memorial expressions may be made to Mansfield Christian School.
