Clarence Eldon Rhine

Clarence Eldon Rhine, age 8O, of 167 West Smiley Avenue in Shelby, died Wednesday morning in the Hillside Acres Nursing Home in Willard. Mr. Rhine had been in failing health since an automobile accident on February 27, 1993. He was born September 8, 1912 in Richland County, the son of Huff Snyder and Keturah (Ehrenfeld) Rhine.

He was a retired employee of the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was an Army veteran of WWII and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #/763 in Shelby.

Mr. Rhine is survived by 1 sister: Pauline Pettit of Shelby, and 1 brother: Robert Rhine of Plymouth; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ornella (L’Orange) Rhine in 1984; by 2 sisters: Beulah Hollenbaugh and Martha Jane Rhine; and 2 brothers: James and Charles Rhine.

Calling hours will be on Thursday from 7-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Dr. Carl L. Johnson, pastor of the First Lutheran Church, officiating.

Memorial expressions may be made to the Shelby Public Health League and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home.
