Clarence Alvie Reed
Clarence Alvie Reed, age 93, formerly of 2690 Plymouth Springmill Road, Shelby, died Sunday evening in the Crestwood Care Center after a short illness. He was born December 26, 1900 in Ganges, the son of Brice and Mary (Hoffman) Reed.
Mr. Reed was a retired employee of the Ohio Steel Tube Company after 44 years of service, retiring in 1966. He served in the Merchant Marines during W.W.I. He was a member of the Fraternal Order Of Eagles.
Mr. Reed is survived by 1 daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Ira Clabaugh of Shelby; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Judy Reed; James and Mercedes Reed; Ned and Elaine Reed
all of Shelby; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Doris Pfahler of Shelby, and Ruth Steiner of Mansfield.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ohma Elma (Waters) Reed in 1974 and by 2 brothers, John and Garland Reed and by 3 sisters, Betty Lantz, Beatrice Moore, and Thelma Brown.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. J. Malcolm Brook of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby.
