Clara M. (Barton) McKenna
Clara M. McKenna, age 62, of 135 Second Street, Shelby, Ohio, died early Friday morning, February 9, 1996, at her home after a one year battle with cancer.
Clara was born January 26, 1934 in New Castle, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Elizabeth C. (Yeykal) Barton.
Mrs. McKenna was a homemaker and a member of Most Pure Heart Of
Mary Catholic Church where she was active in the Ministry Of Praise and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of Shelby Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, A.A.R.P., Parents Support Group Of Richland New Hope Center, and was a board member and secretary of Independent Living Services Of North Central Ohio. She was a 1951 graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania.
She is survived by her husband, Robert W. McKenna, whom she married on October 26, 1963; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Carolyn McKenna of Memphis, Tennessee; 4 daughters and sons-in-law,
Roberta J. and Robert Hobbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Colleen and Howard Garis of Fairbanks, Alaska; Kenna and David Bonnett of Shelby, Ohio; and Megan and Michael Brawley of Elyria, Ohio. 5 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; 2 sisters, Carolyn Barton of Shelby, Ohio and Joanne Noies of Silver Springs, Maryland.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where a Christian Wake Service will be conducted Sunday at 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby, with her pastor Father John C. Missler, officiating. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Cemetery.
