Chester Ralph Shank
C. Ralph Shank, age 82, of 4097 Plymouth Springmill Road, died unexpectedly Friday morning at his home. He was born October 13, 1909 in Jefferson County, Ohio, the son of Ralph David and Eunice (Allison) Shank.
Mr. Shank was an auto mechanic for many years, having worked at Gumps Chevrolet-Olds and Barkers Chevrolet-Olds before opening his own shop in 1963, which he ran until his retirement. He was a member of the First Christian Church where he served as a deacon, and was a member of the Shelby Masonic Lodge #350 F and AM.
Mr. Shank is survived by his wife, Dorothea (Eckstein) Shank, whom he married on February 25, 1939; 3 daughters and 1 son-in-law: Eunice and Hobart Kenton of Sarver, PA, Ann Mott and Linda Shank both of Shelby; 1 son and daughter-in-law: Tom and Deborah Shank of Plymouth; a sister and brother-in-law: Mary and Charles BrydIe of Kellogsville, Ohio; 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother: Grace Shank, and by 3 brothers: Clark, Howard, and Harley Shank.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 A.M. with his pastor Rev. C. Reid Miller, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Masonic services will be held on Sunday at 8:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorial expressions may be made to the First Christian Church and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home.
