Charles W. Needs

Charles W. Needs, age 73, of 117 Martin Drive, Shelby, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, July 23, 1996, in Med Central- Mansfield Hospital. He was born July 3, 1923 in Neffs, Ohio.
Mr. Needs was a truck driver for Consolidated Freightways for 30 years. He was an Army veteran of W.W.II.
He is survived by his wife, Leon (Johnson Rietveld Needs, whom he married on December 1, 1995; 4 sons and 3 daughters-in-law, George and Nellie Needs of Mendota, Illinois, Charles Jr. and Leah Needs of Mendota, Illinois, Joseph and Barbara Needs of Mendota, Illinois, and Gordon Needs of Palm Springs, California; 4 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Marjorie and Bart Rhodes of LaSalle, Illinois, Carolyn Gilbertson of Renton, Washington, Charlene Needs of Mendota, Illinois, Jannette and Donald Thompson of Rochelle, Illinois; 29 Grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; His mother,
Clara May (Call) Needs of Shelby; 2 brothers, George E. Needs of Shelby and James R. Needs of Shelby; 2 step sons, Richard Adkins, of Columbus, Ohio and John Rietveld of Orange Park, Florida; 1 step daughter, Carol Sotora of Shelby; 8 step grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren;
Mr. Needs married his first wife, Josephine (Zerbo) Needs on April 26, 1947 and she preceded him in death on February 5, 1991. He was also preceded in death by his father, George William Needs, a daughter Mary Ellen Needs in 1949 and by a son David Needs in 1980.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. with Father Stephen Rogers, of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mansfield, officiating. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Cemetery in Shelby.
