Cecil J. “Pete” Stickney

Cecil J. Pete Stickney, age 76, of 88 West Park Drive, Shelby, and a resident of Crestwood Care Center for the past year, died Sunday morning, December 7, 2003 at Med Central Shelby Hospital after an extended illness.

Pete was born March 31, 1927 in Shelby, the son of the late Dale and Gail (Billman) Stickney. He was a 1945 graduate of Shelby High School and was the retired owner of the Shelby Beer Dock. He was a member of the Shelby American Legion O’Brien Post #326, Shelby Owls, Shelby Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #763, Shelby VFW George Broderick Post #291. He was a Navy veteran of WWII.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Trent Mohn of Shelby; 2 granddaughters and spouse, Krystal and Scott Lovejoy of Cleveland and Jennifer Mohn of Columbus; a sister, Reatha Lake of Shelby; 2 brothers Jack Stickney of Springfield, OH and Kenneth Stickney of Epworth, GA; Nieces and Nephews. Pete was preceded in death by his wife, L. Louise (Hollenbaugh) Stickney in 2001 and by a daughter, Madonna Jean Stickney in 1997.

Friends may call on Tuesday, December 9, 2003 from 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby and also on Wednesday from 9:30 AM-10:30 AM , Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. David Carter, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby, with military honors conducted by the Shelby American Legion. Memorial expressions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church.
