Catharine R. Yetzer

Catharine R. Yetzer, age 102, of N. Gamble Street, Shelby, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at the Crestline Nursing Home after a short illness.

She was born December 24, 1903 in Bethlehem, Shelby Settlement, the daughter of the late Martin and Catharine (Buchholz) Keller. She was a homemaker and had attended Wooster Business College. From 1950 to 1957 she was employed at Wilkens Air Force Depot in the Officers Cafeteria. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed ceramics, needlepoint, crocheting, traveling and playing cards at the monthly senior citizens card party.

Catharine enjoyed the time spent with her family, which includes: sons, John M. (Doris) Yetzer and David J. (Marlene) Yetzer, all of Shelby and Joseph Lee (Marjorie) Yetzer of Ashland; daughter, Joan Ashley of Mansfield; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her husband Joseph L. Yetzer in 1990; 2 brothers, Paul and George Keller; 4 sisters, Elizabeth Weaver, Mary Keller, Sophia Weaver, and Emma Weaver; and a son-in-law, Russell Ashley.

Friends may call on Friday, September 1, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 AM at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby with Father Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The Daughters of Isabella will recite the rosary at 3:45 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorial expressions may be made to Most Pure Heart of Mary Church, Shelby Home and Public Health or Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
