Carrie D. (Smith) Walker
Carrie D. Walker, 91, formerly of 88 W. Main St., died at 5:45 a.m. Monday in Crestwood Care Center following an extended illness.
Born May 11, 1894 in Rootstown, she was the daughter of Lewis and Nellie (Craig) Smith.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Shelby.
She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Edward J. (Eloise) Beebe of Upsala, Ontario, Canada, and Mrs. Edward J. (Lois) Castor of Shelby; a brother, J. Craig Smith of Ravenna; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death in 1957 by her husband, H. Reed Walker.
She and her husband were the owners and operators of the former Walker Dairy on West
Main Street from 1933 to 1953. She also taught elementary school in Rootstown before moving to Shelby.
A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Oakland Cemetery followed by a memorial funeral service at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church. Both services will be conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Carl G. Beighley. Friends may call 2-4 this afternoon and 7-9 tonight at Turner Funeral Home.
Memorials may made to the First United Methodist Church and can be left at the funeral home.
