Carol S. ( Walters) Whisler
Carol S. Whisler, age 63 formerly of Shelby and most recently a resident of Edgewood Manor in Westerville, died Thursday, April 12, 2007 at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville after a long illness.
Carol was born May 17, 1943 in Canton, Ohio the daughter of the late Gail Kenneth and Pauline Julia (Martin) Walters. She was a 1961 graduate of Shelby Senior High School. Following high school, she graduated from Canton Beauty School and was an employee of Marilyn’s Beauty Shop in Shelby. She was also employed at AMF, Shelby Moose Lodge as a bartender, Movie Gallery and in the deli at Cornell’s IGA. She was a member of Young Reflections Mothers Club, Shelby Moose and Rhythmetts Bowling League at the Rhythm Bowl. She was active in Shelby Little League during her sons growing-up years, and was an avid Indians and Browns fan. Her hobbies included knitting, cooking crossword puzzles and arts & crafts. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her granddaughters.
She is survived by 2 sons and spouses, Robert and Jennifer Whisler of Westerville, Dan and Karen Whisler of Dearborn Hts., Michigan; a sister and her husband, Nancy and Ted Clabaugh of Shelby; 3 granddaughters, Amanda, Kaitlyn and Mara Whisler; an aunt, Marilyn Walters of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her mother in 1993 her father in 1982, an uncle Darl Walters, a cousin, Donna Martin and her grandmother, Stella Vanarsdale.
Friends may call on Sunday, April 15, 2007 from 2-5 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 AM with Rev. David Jansen, pastor of CenterPoint Church in Columbus officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial expressions may be made to the family.
