Carl L. “Buck” DeWitt

Carl L. “Buck” DeWitt, age 68, of 38 Myrtle Drive, Shelby, died Tuesday morning at his home after an extended illness.

He was born May 19, 1926 in Brinkhaven, Ohio the son of Leslie and Eloise (Hardesty) DeWitt.

Mr. DeWitt retired from the Shelby Business Forms in 1981 after 16 years of service. He was an Army veteran of WWII where he was a decorated P.O.W. receiving 2 purple hearts, 1 bronze star and 1 silver star.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley J. (Apger) DeWitt, whom he married on May 7, 1955; 2 daughters, Carla Leigh DeWitt of Shelby and Candy Lynn Bryson of Spring Lake, North Carolina; a special care giver, Linda O’Connell of Shelby and an Aunt, May Daliere of Walhonding, Ohio;

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby with his brother-in-law, Rev. Mr. Joseph L. Burkhart, deacon at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crestline, officiating. Burial will be in Little London Cemetery.

Memorial expressions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby.
