Calvin W. Gouge

Calvin W. Gouge, age 66, of 15 West Maxwell Drive, in Shelby, died early Friday morning in Shelby Memorial Hospital. He was born April 29, 1927 in Elizabethton, Tennessee, the son of Warren R. and Rosa (Nave) Gouge.

Mr. Gouge lived his entire live in the Mansfield and Shelby area. Mr. Gouge was the retired owner of Cal’s Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning in Shelby. Prior to that, he had worked 25 years for Troxell’s Sheet Metal Company in Shelby. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby and was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Gouge is survived by his wife, Pearl (Welker) Gouge, whom he married on July 26, 1952; 4 brothers: James R. Gouge, John Howard Gouge, and David Gouge all of Mansfield, and Clarence Gouge of Florida; 2 nieces and 3 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Herbert Gouge.

Calling hours will be on Sunday from 7-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday by his pastor the Rev. Dr. Carl L. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.

Memorial expressions may be made to the First Lutheran Church and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby.
