Bruce Reed Gates
Bruce Reed Gates, age 37, formerly of Shelby, died Wednesday January 25, 1995 at his home in Los Angeles, California. He was born April 11, 1957 in Shelby .
Bruce was an accountant at Twentieth Century Fox Television where he work on “L.A. Law” , “Picket Fences” , and “The 5 Mrs. Buchanans” . Prior to that, he worked with Michael Landon on “Highway To Heaven”.
He was a 1975 graduate of Shelby Senior High School and had attended the Ohio State University and the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).
Bruce is survived by his mother, Iona B. (Johnston) Gates of Shelby; his life partner, Charles Herrera, of Los Angeles, Calif., 1 sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Robert Saltzgaber of Ashland; 3 brothers and 1 sister-in-law, David and Arlene Gates of Sidney, Ohio; Garland John Gates of Shelby; and Carl Gates of Columbus, Ohio; 1 nephew, Michael Gates of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 3 nieces, Lisa Gates of Columbus, Ohio , Patti and Tiffany Saltzgaber both of Ashland; 3 Aunts and 2 Uncles, Antonia and Clarence Yohn of Shelby; Lois and Paul Foote of Seneca Falls, New York and Hazel Williams of Trenton, Michigan; 1 great Aunt, Gladys Briner of Shelby; numerous cousins and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Garland J. Gates in 1988.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 1995 at 2:00 P.M. at the First United Church of Christ in Shelby with Rev. John J. Bradley, officiating. Burial will be in Sandusky Township Cemetery, Biddle Road, Crawford County, Ohio. The family will receive relatives and friends after the service in the church social hall.
