Brian Edward Korbas
Brian Edward Korbas, age 30 of Columbus, Ohio, and formerly of Shelby, died Sunday, August 19, 2001 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus after an extended illness.
He was born February 17, 1971 in Shelby and was a 1989 graduate of Shelby Sr. High School. He attended the University of Cincinnati, where he was active in student government, and also The Ohio State University. He was a member of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity-Ohio Omicron Chapter. His professional background was in market research.
Brian is survived by his parents, Thomas E. and Judith L. (Hetler) Korbas of Shelby; his partner
and best friend, Michael Rebman of Columbus; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law: Annette Korbas, of Indianapolis, IN, and Rosemarie and Aaron Oritz of Rio Rancho, NM; his grandmother, Elizabeth Hetler of Shelby; 2 nephews: Andrew and Dominic Oritz; many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Mary Korbas; and maternal grandfather Leo W. Hetler.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 6-8 PM, with a wake services at 8 PM, at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street in Shelby. Additional calling hours will be held on Friday from 6-8 PM at the Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, 403 E. Broad Street, Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM at Holy Name Church, 154 E. Patterson Ave., Columbus, with Msgr. James Ruef, officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Columbus. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Name Organ Fund or Most Pure Heart of Mary Church in Shelby.
