Betty Nadine (Hafer) Wentz

Betty Nadine Wentz, age 83, of Owego, NY and formerly of 67 Raymond Avenue, Shelby, died Monday, October 9, 2000 at the Riverview Manor Nursing Home in Owego.

Nadine was born July 3, 1917 in Shelby, the daughter of the late Ray and Hazel (Hutt) Hafer. She was a former employee of the Shelby Spring Hinge Co., and was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby, where she was a member of the Naomi Circle Class, American Legion
Auxiliary,and was a Life Member of George Broderick Post #291 VFW Auxiliary. Nadine was a volunteer for many years for the Shelby Memorial Hosptal Women’s Guild.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Samuel and Judy Wentz of Endwell, NY; a
daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Terry Byers of Oklahoma City, OK; her grandchildren, who were so precious to her, Brian Wentz of Seattle, WA, Jennifer Wentz of Endwell, NY, Ian Byers of Kileen, TX, Katie Byers of Oklahoma City, OK; 2 sisters: Jeanne Coker of Hayward, CA and Evelyn Seton of Lebanon, OH; a sister-in-law: Mildred Wentz of Shelby; many nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Levi Hershiser Wentz in 1980.

Calling hours will be on Friday from 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM with Rev. D. Evan Houck, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Riverview Manor, Owego, NY for all their loving care and support while Nadine was living there. Memorial expressions may be made to the Parkinson’s
