Betty J. (Weathersby) Chapman
Betty J. Chapman, age 50, of 90 North Third Street, Apt. 48, Shelby died early Sunday morning in Shelby Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was born February 23, 1942 in Millen, Georgia the daughter of Robert and Mabel (Collins) Weathersby.
Mrs. Chapman was a homemaker and a member of the First Church Of the Nazarene.
She is survived by her husband Roland Francis Chapman, whom she married on March 14, 1975; 4 sons and 2 daughters-in-law: Glenn Sikes and Clay Sikes both of Savanah, Georgia, William P. and Edna Murphy of Buffalo, Ohio and Terry R. and Elaine Murphy of Mansfield; 2 step-sons: Norman Chapman and John Chapman both of Mansfield; 2 step-daughters, Teresa Carson of Mansfield and Sandra Patton of Shelby; 8 grandchildren; 1 sister, Lucille Harbeson of Georgia and a half-brother Buddy Wise of Georgia; a half-sister Laveran Hanselman of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by 1 grandchild, a daughter, and by her parents.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the First Church Of the Nazarene in Shelby by her pastor the Rev. W. Jay Hawes. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial contributions may be made to the family and left in care of the funeral home.
