Betty Elaine (Cheesman) Barnhart
Betty Elaine Barnhart, age 75, of 81 Park Village, Shelby, died Saturday evening in Mansfield General Hospital after suffering a heart attack. She was born January 11, 1920 in Ripley, Township, Huron County, Ohio the daughter of Brayton and Opal (Allen) Cheesman.
Mrs. Barnhart had been employed at the Carton Service, Shelby Spring Hinge, A.M.F. and retired in 1985 from the Autocall Company after 16 years of service. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where she had been a member of the Mary Martha Circle, the Administrative Board, and the Good Fellowship Sunday School Class where she had been the secretary for many years. She had also been a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of A.A.R.P., Golden Agers, Sunshine Club and Home Arts Club of Huron County. She was a 1938 graduate of Willard High School.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Linda Jones of Shelby; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Gay Barnhart of Ashley, Ohio; 2 grandchildren, Shannon and Shane Barnhart; 1 brother, Richard Cheesman of Milan, Ohio and 1 sister, Jane Arnold of Deltona, Florida; She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry M. Barnhart in 1960, a daughter, Carol Jean Barnhart and a brother Ronald Cheesman.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Shelby, with her pastor, Rev. J. Malcolm Brook, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
