Bessie Bossardet

Bessie Bossardet, age 97, of 90 North Third Street, died Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at the Heritage Care Center.

Mrs. Bossardet was born November 20, 1906 in Bay City, Michigan the daughter of the late Clarence and Jessie (Sawtelle) Evans. She was a homemaker and attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelby. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, traveling, listening to music, singing and playing the organ and piano. She also was a marvelous seamstress, sewing many of her own clothes. In 2000, she represented Heritage Care Center as the Richland County Fair Queen.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law and her husband, Shirley and Howard Erwin of Shelby; 4 grandchildren and spouse, Robert and Melonie Gaines of Shelby, Veronica Ronnie Kilgore of Shelby, David Gaines of Shelby and Eric Erwin of Shelby; 8 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; a brother, Donald Evans of California; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Gaines, second husband, Lester Bossardet, 2 sons, Robert Ralph Gaines and Robert Frederick Gaines, a sister, Lyla Nye and a brother, Ralph Evans.

Calling hours will not be observed. Funeral services will be conducted at a later date. Memorial expressions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene. The
Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
