Bertha (Creech) McClain

Bertha McClain, age 81, of 34 Clark Avenue, Shelby, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004, after an extended illness. Born on February 27, 1923, in Rockcastle, Kentucky, Bertha was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Anna (Barnett) Creech.

As a homemaker, Bertha especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by 2 sons and 3 daughters: Randy McClain, Danny McClain, Donna (Gary) Blanton, Diana Mabe, and Rhonda (Lee) Johnson—all of Shelby. In addition, she is survived by 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also surviving are 1 brother and 3 sisters: James Creech of Kentucky, Bessie Lyons of Kentucky, Sally Smith of Tennessee, Bernice Irwin, and Beatrice Hamm, both of Kentucky.

In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband Avery McClain in 1989, a brother Benny Creech and infant twin sons Billy and Eddie McClain.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2004, and also from 10-11 a.m. on Friday at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert W. Becker, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Shelby, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to Shelby Home and Public Health.
