Bert Ferdinand “Ferd” Light

Bert Ferdinand “Ferd” Light, 91, of 36 Mack Ave., died Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Heritage Care Center after an extended illness. He was born Nov. 10, 1894, in Kewanee, IL, the son of William and Jenny (Bloom) Light. He had been a Shelby resident most of his life.

Mr. Light was a former employee of the Shelby in Salesbook Co. and was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby. He is survived by a son, William of Mansfield; two daughters, Mrs. Nick (Eileen) Eichinger and Mrs. Richard (Mary Lou) Williams, both of Shelby; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Kathleen Rizzo of Mansfield.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Gundrum Light, in 1961, and by two daughters, Betty Jane Light and Mrs. Hallie Sipes.

Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Turner Funeral Home by the Rev. Lynn T. Williamson. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
