Barbara Helen (Bauer) Shepherd
Barbara Helen Shepherd, age 52, of 50 Harriett Drive, Shelby, died early Tuesday morning at her home.She was born January 22, 1943 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Shepherd was a graduate of Grant School of Nursing in Columbus. She worked as a registered nurse at Children’s Hospital in Columbus and Galion Community Hospital. She was certified in psychiatric nursing and as a drug and alcohol counselor. She had been employed at The Center For Individual and Family Services, and A.D.A.P.T. as a mental health therapist . She had recently worked at Pioneer Joint Vocational School in the Adult Education Department. Mrs. Shepherd was also a licensed real estate broker, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Shelby.
She is survived by her husband, R. Lee Shepherd, whom she married on July 28, 1984; 1 son, Justin Powell at home; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and James Bolin of Ontario and Laura and David Fullen of Columbus; 4 grandchildren; her mother Velma (Herrick) Bauer of Shelby ; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dick and Jean Shepherd of Shelby.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Jacob Bauer in 1982.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby. Private graveside services will be held on Thursday in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby with Rev. Jeff Matthews, officiating.
