Audrey Joan (Merritt) Bernhardt

Audrey Joan Bernhardt, age, 78, of rural Shiloh, died Monday, June 21, 2010 at Triumph Hospital in Mansfield.

Audrey loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed painting, reading, and working puzzles and board games. As a younger woman, she took pleasure in gardening, fishing and vacationing in Pike County, Ohio. Even though Audrey and John did not attend church regularly, the Rome Community Church was a cornerstone for the Bernhardt girls as they were growing up. Audrey struggled with health issues for several years. But, God is good and through the Lord Jesus Christ she is alive and in His presence!
Audrey was blessed with a wonderful family. Surviving are seven daughters: Brenda Taylor of Cambridge, Linda and Bill Hale of Plymouth, Sondra and George McKean of Shelby, Jonetta and Jeff Tinklepaugh of Columbus, Cheryl and Calvin Lee of LaRue, Deanna and Terry Sweitzer of Oceola, and Audrey Black of Shelby; 33 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren and 1 expected great great grandchild in September. Also surviving is her youngest brother, Dale Merritt of Washington Court House and a host of nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband: John Bernhardt in 2002 and by 2 grandchildren: Terry Lee Pyers and Rachael L. McKean.

If you want to see Audrey again, Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. (Acts 16:31). Simply pray: Lord Jesus, I know I’m a sinner; I believe you died on the cross for my sins. Please forgive me of my sins and be my Savior. Amen.

I am so sorry to hear about your Mother. My heart goes out to each of you. I am so happy that she was one of God’s Angels and is at peace and happiness now. No more pain for her. I lost my Mother almost a year ago and it was very difficult for the family and we miss her dearly. Knowing that she is now with Jesus and in no more pain has helped me to cope with this BIG void in my life. The pain lessens through time but missing her has not and I’m sure you will understand as time passes. Knowing that one day we will be United again and with the Lords Love will give us that HOPE that we so long for. Prayers are with you and your family. Love in Christ, Sharon

I am very sorry to hear Aunt Audrey passed. She was always so friendly and nice to me. When I was younger, I thought she was so pretty. I always thought,”If her hair were straight, she’d look like Cher.” Oh well. She was still pretty. The week that I spent with you girls in the summer was great. She was always close enough to be there when you needed her,but not smothering or in the way. She was cool. She has her own little spot in my heart. I will miss her.

Dear Calvin and Cheryl,
Your loss comes so soon after our loss. We are still weeping much. We are not sure how we can be of very much help to you in expressing our condolences. We make our feeble effort to express our sorrow with you. We weep together at this time. We have this hope that we know we will see our loved ones again in heaven.
Our prayer is: “Oh Jesus, come quickly to rapture us all together so we can be with You, and with our precious loved ones again, for all eternity. LORD, our journey is here, but our hearts are there with You. We just want this waiting to be over. We just want to be with You. We want to see Your smile. Please, Jesus come quickly. In Your precious name we pray. Amen”

So sorry to hear of your loss just shortly after ours.
Wish I could be there with you at this time that I grieve my own.
I want to thank you, Cheryl for being there with us when Hans went home to be with the Lord. That was much needed and appreciated. I wish I could do the same for you and your loss.
Your mom went home just the day after Hans’ memorial birthday, Father’s day which was quite hard for us. It helped to have David Powell visiting and “celebrating” with us.
