Arthur F. Ingram
Arthur F. Ingram, age 89, of Park Village, Shelby, died Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at his home.
Art was born August 7, 1922 in Scranton, KY the son of the late John Miles and Nora Myrtle (Staton) Ingram. Mr. Ingram was a WW II combat veteran of the United States Army serving in the European and North African Theaters. While serving in combat, Art was the recipient of three bronze stars. He retired from DCSC in Columbus after 31 years of federal government service. Following his retirement, he worked for the State of Ohio Department of OSHA. Art was a member of the Shelby Masonic Lodge #350 F and AM, was a Shriner and a 32nd Degree Mason. Art was also a member of the First Church of God and served on several church mission trips. Art’s passion for traveling took him to Israel, Jerusalem, the Holy Lands, and Europe, as well as, across the entire United States. He was a scratch golfer, avid hunter, fisherman, taxidermist, and a self taught musician. Art was proud to be a Kentucky Colonel
Mr. Ingram is survived by his wife: Phyllis McKenzie Ingram; a son: Arthur Clark Ingram (Rhonda Robinson) of Granville, OH; a daughter: G. Charlene Evans of Columbus, OH; 3 grandchildren: Stacy (Joel) Lilly of Upper Arlington, OH, R. Ryan Pressel-Evans (Brandy Donohoo) of Batavia, OH, James Arthur Ingram of Bellvue, CO; 4 great grandchildren: Chandra and Taylor Pressel-Evans, Anna-Grace and Caroline Lilly; 2 sisters-in-law: Venus Ingram of Shelby and Learlene Ingram of Fairborn, OH; numerous nieces and nephews; a step son: Philip (Patricia) McKenzie of Shelby and 2 step grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years: Gladys Anderson Ingram; 5 brothers: Seebert Ingram, Eathern Ingram, Bertis Ingram, Walter F. Ingram, and Ray Ingram.
Friends may call on Friday, October 28, 2011 from 5-7 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, OH where Masonic services will held at 6:45 PM. Visitation will also be Saturday, October 29, 2011 from Noon- 1 PM at First Church of God, 732 East 6th Avenue, Lancaster, OH where funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM by Rev. Tim Schrock and Rev. Robert Mathis. Burial, with military honors, will be in Lithopolis Cemetery in Lithopolis, OH. Memorial expressions may be made to Shelby Help Line Ministries, 29 ? A former neighbor and friend of my parents Gordon & Evelyn; Art made a lasting impression on our entire family and friends alike. I have many fond memories of Art’s friendship with my father; perhaps the most special when he accompanied us on our visit to southern Germany in 2004, re-visiting many of the same places he had last seen 60 years earlier as a soldier in WWII.
