Arthur Dale “Butch” Karl

Arthur Dale Butch Karl, age 61, of Stiving Road, died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Med Central Mansfield Hospital.
He was born April 1, 1948 in Shelby. He began his education at Sacred Heart Catholic School in the Shelby Settlement and attended Shelby City Schools. He was an Army veteran serving in Vietnam.
Butch was a former employee of Sarco and Broscho in Mansfield. He was a member of the Shelby VFW and Shelby AmVets. For many years, Butch helped his parents with their annual Olson Christmas Lighting Display on Stiving Road.
Butch is survived by his sons: Arthur Dink Karl of Mansfield, Rodney Karl of Mansfield, Jason Karl of Mansfield and Franklin and Karen Karl of Jacksonville, N.C; 4 grandchildren: Dana Karl, Troy Karl, Adrienne Cogburn, Chelsea Stroud; 2 sisters, Bonnie and Terry Hall and Pearl and Harold Diller all of Shelby; 3 brothers: Joseph and Beverly Karl of Mansfield, Ivan and Jessie Karl of Florida, George and Lisa Olson of Uniontown, PA. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, his father, Charles Franklin Karl, his mother, Marie Rhodes Karl Olson, his stepfather, Harold Olson, and a brother, Russell Sonny Karl.
Friends may call on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 from 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 AM on Thursday, with Pastor Richard Cloyed, Pastor of the First Church of God in Shelby officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery with military honors by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

I am so sorry to here of Art passing. I work with him at Sarca and Broshco for about ten years. Our last conversation was about how we could soon retire. My thoughts our with you as I just lost my mother in December.
