Arlene (Lust) Jones
Arlene L. Jones, age 93, of Shelby, died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus after a brief illness.
Born November 23, 1919 in Crawford County, Ohio to the late Lloyd Elden and Florence (Harley) Lust, Arlene was a 1936 graduate of Tiro High School. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Shelby, Hazel Grove Grange, Farm Bureau, was a 4-H advisor and a volunteer for Fairhaven Hall at the Richland County Fairgrounds. Small but mighty, Arlene was strong willed and very determined. As an avid seamstress and sports fan Arlene sewed nearly every day of her life while watching some sort of sport on TV from golf to football. Along with her fellow members of Hazel Grove Ladies Aid Society, she sewed and quilted blankets which were donated to various charities.
Arlene is survived by her children: Sarah (James) Evans of Mt. Sterling, OH, Mary Ann (Gerald) Naumann of Shelby, and Charles (Sara) Jones of Shelby; 6 grandchildren: Ryan (Tami) Naumann, Tamie Naumann, Larissa (Eric) Rupnow, Matthew Evans, Erin Jones, Caleb (Tiffany) Jones; 3 great grandchildren: Courtney (Clint) Hite, Will Rupnow, and Justin Rupnow; a great great grandchild: Allyson Hite; a brother: Harley Steve Lust of Galion. She was preceded in death by her husband: Chester Ellis Jones in 2000.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 7, 2013 from 4-7 PM at Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 10:30 AM by Pastor Russ Yoak and Mrs. Gaye Shira. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Crestline. Memorials may be made to Hazel Grove Ladies Aid Society or Wounded Warriors.
