Ardell L. (Darlington) Lewis
Ardell L. Lewis, age 59, of 2857 Taylortown Road in Shelby, died suddenly, early Sunday morning in Mansfield General Hospital.
She was born April 15, 1934 in West Virginia to Kelly Franklin and Sadie Ethel (Kirby) Darlington.
Mrs. Lewis grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, and lived in Shelby since 1957. She was a homemaker and an active member of the 1st Baptist Church in Shelby where she did the decor for all of the special events at church, and was a member of the 9 to 90 sewing circle and was the former chairman of the social committee and a former youth group leader.
She is survived by her husband Perry Roger Lewis whom she married on January 19, 1954; 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Brenda and Phil Sweet of Bailey Lakes, Ohio, and Sheila and Mike Tenpenny of Shelby; 1 son, Steve Lewis of Florida; 9 grandchildren; 1 brother Doles Darlington of Indianapolis, Indiana; and 1 sister Irene Smith of Indianapolis, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by 3 brothers: Ray Darlington, Paul Darlington, and Buster Darlington; and by 1 sister Arnell Darlington.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Shelby
with her pastor the Rev. Dave Asp, officiating. Calling hours will also be held on Thursday from 1:00 -3:00 P.M. at the Northcutt and Son Funeral Home in Morehead, Kentucky with, graveside services following in Lewis-Ditney Cemetery in Rowan County, Kentucky.
Memorial expressions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Shelby and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home.
