Antonia G. (Johnston) Yohn

Antonia G. (Johnston) Yohn, age 88, of 141 North Gamble Street, Shelby, Ohio, died Thursday, August 12, 1999 at the Heritage Care Center after a short illness.

She was born September 11, 1910 in Alliance, Nebraska, the daughter of the late John C. and Inez (Erzinger) Johnston. Mrs. Yohn was a graduate of Shelby High School and received her bachelors and masters degree in education from Bowling Green State University. She was a teacher all of her life begining her career in Shelby at Grant, Auburn, and Central Elementary Schools, retiring from Mansfield City Schools. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and was a charter member of the Shelby Business and Professional Womens Club. She was an inductee of the Auburn School Hall of Fame, was an avid reader, and enjoyed gardening and knitting, having made many of her own clothes.

Mrs. Yohn is survived by her sister, lona Gates of Shelby; a brother-in-law, Paul R. Foote of Seneca Falls, NY; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Yohn; 4 brothers: Bruce, Robert, Herschel, and Carl Johnston; and by 3 sisters: Marguerite Snavely, Edith McDougal, and Lois Foote.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, August 22, 1999 from Noon until 1:00 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street in Shelby, where funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. John J. Bradley, pastor of the First United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in
Sandusky Township Cemetery, Crawford County, Ohio. Memorial expressions may be made to the church or to Marvin Memorial Library.
