Anna E. (Tober) Tallman Hopton Hargis

Anna E. Tallman Hopton Hargis, age 87, of 2449 Noble Road, Shiloh, died Thursday, August 1, 2002 at the Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk after a short illness.
Mrs. Hargis was born July 1, 1915 in Rogers City, MI, the daughter of the late Jacob and Emma M. (Stone) Tober. She attended Rogers City High School and Mansfield Business College. She was employed at the Wilkens Air Force Depot and retired from the Shelby City Schools, where she had worked in the cafeteria at the Junior High. She was a member of Mt. Hope Lutheran Church in Shiloh and the Shiloh Grange. She had spent her winters in Florida for the last 21 years, where she enjoyed fishing. Her other hobby was knitting.
She is survived by her husband, John Hargis, whom she wed on July 18,1981; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kathleen Tallman of Shiloh; 3 stepsons and spouses: Roger and Alice Hopton of Shelby; William and Frances Hargis and John and Linda Hargis all of Grove City, OH; 3 stepdaughters and spouses: EvaJean and James Hickman of Shelby; Arlena and Richard Lyons of Columbus, OH; and Irene Salmons of Perry County, OH; 2 grandchildren and spouse: Douglas Tallman of Greenwich and Angela and Lanny Seaman of Shiloh; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd Tallman in 1940; second husband, Homer Hopton in 1978; 3 sisters, Lena Shrank, Elva Billote, and Hannah Rose.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, August 4, 2002, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30 AM with Rev. Diana Seaman officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to Mt. Hope Lutheran Church in Shiloh.
