Alice M. (Mumau) Jacobs

Alice M. Jacobs, 95 formerly of 2075 Ashland Road, Mansfield, died Monday, September 22, 1997, in the Manor Care Nursing Home in Westerville, Ohio. She was born July 7, 1902 in Plymouth, the daughter of William J. and Elizabeth P. (Boyce) Mumau.

Mrs. Jacobs was a Shelby resident form many years. She was an employee of the Wilkins Air Force Depot in Shelby and the Defense Construction Supply Center in Columbus. She was a member of St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church in Mansfield, American legion Auxiliary, O’Brien Post 326 in Shelby, and Navy Mothers Club.

She is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Delores Sturts of Phoenix, Arizona, Wayne and Dwan Sturts of Mansfield and Delmar “George” and Donna Sturts of Mansfield; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Gloria and David McNeil of Elkheart, Indiana and Jean Norris of Westerville; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brother, William Mumau of Sandusky; sister, Geneva Bittleston of Boise, Idaho; 2 stepsons, Kenneth and Paul Jacobs both of Mansfield; 3 stepdaughters, Patricia Durbin and Carol Wise both of Lexington and Nancy Lawhorn of Mansfield; numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 3 husbands, Will Sturts in 1945, W.C. Hollenbaugh in 1962 , Thomas Jacobs in 1992, brother Roy Mumau, sister Grace Schlereth, and 3 step children, Ted, Ned and Tommy Jacobs.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, where funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bonnie Peltomaa, officiating. Burial in Oakland Cemetery. Memorials to American Diabetes Association.
