Alice Louise (Barber) Hickerson

Alice Louise Hickerson, age 61, of 8 North Point Blvd; Moyock, North Carolina, died Thursday evening in Chesapeake General Hospital in chesapeake, Virginia after an extended illness. She was born February 24, 1933 in Salt Lick, Kentucky the daughter of Harley P. and D. Pearl (McFarland) Barber.

Mrs. Hickerson retired in 1990 from North Central Technical College where she had worked in word processing. Prior to that she had been employed at Shelby Standard Company. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Moyock, North Carolina and was a graduate of Shelby High School in the class of 1951.

Mrs. Hickerson is survived by 3 sons and 2 daughters-in-law, Alan D. and Jackie Hickerson of Jeromsville; Scott W. Hickerson of Lancaster, California; J. Eric and Lainie Hickerson of Mansfield; 2 daughters and 1 son-in-law, Amy S. and Jay Prosser of Moyock, North Carolina and Carol A. Gross of Shelby; 10 grandchildren; 5 brothers, Harley L. Barber of Phoenix, Arizona; Robert C. Barber of Phoenix, Arizona; Kenneth P. Barber of Mansfield; Ralph E. Barber of Shelby; and Roy D. Barber of Plymouth; 1 sister Evelyn Betts of Shelby;

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Roger Barber and a sister, Joyce Ann Barber.

Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Dale L. Schaefer, pastor of First Lutheran Church in Mansfield, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
