Albert E. “Red” Lux

Albert E. “Red” Lux, age 81, of 82 Mickey Road, Shelby, died Sunday, January 11, 1998 at his home after a short illness.

Mr. Lux was born October 25, 1916 in North Auburn, Ohio the son of Frank Bernard and Amelia Mary (Karl) Lux. As a young man Mr. Lux worked at Copperweld-Shelby Division and then started his construction career with Carl Koontz. He had been employed for many years with Friebel and Hartman Construction Co., and retired in 1981 as a carpenter with Carpenters Local Union #735 in Mansfield. He was a 1935 graduate of Shelby High School, and was a member of Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church. He was also a member of Woody Ridge Golf Course where he golfed in the Sr. League and the Sales Book League. He was an honorary life member of the Shelby Knights of Columbus Council #1968 where he participated in the Golf League.

Mr. Lux is survived by his wife, Catherine (Finn) Lux whom he married on October 7, 1939; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Sims and James “Peachy” Korbas of Shelby and Louise and Barton “Butch” Owens of Willard; 4 grandchildren, Gordon B. Sims, Michael A. Sims, Brent E. Owens, and ReNea L. Owens; 2 brothers, Francis “Fuzz” Lux of Newark, Ohio and Franklin “Dope” Lux of Shelby; 1 sister, Margaret Moore of Shelby; Nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, George Lux, Herbert Lux, and Bernard Lux and by 1 sister, Alberta M. Fullager.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, where the rosary will be recited at 7:45 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church with Father John C. Missler officiating. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Memorial expressions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio or to the church.
