Abigail Michelle Finnegan
Abigail Michelle Abby Finnegan, age 17, of Shiloh, died Saturday, December 19, 2009 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Abby was born November 28, 1992 in Willard. She attended St. Mary’s grade school in Shelby and was currently a junior at Plymouth High School. She attended both Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plymouth. In her years at St. Mary’s School, Abby was a member of the cherub choir, youth choir, liturgical dance, and the Jets basketball and volleyball teams. She continued her love of sports in high school and was involved in cross country, track, and volleyball, and was currently on the girls’ basketball team at Plymouth High School. She was part of the new drama club at the High School. She was a member of the Stingrays swim team at the Shelby Y for five years, took piano lessons, guitar lessons, baton and dance. She was a member of the Red and Gray 4-H Club and was an officer in FFA – where she especially enjoyed her last two years with her teacher Mrs. Short. She had been a Girl Scout and loved going to the father-daughter dances with her dad. Abby looked forward to the camping trips her family took to Michigan every 4th of July to attend Moto Cross races.
She enjoyed the outdoors, spending time fishing in her uncle’s pond and riding her dirt bike and the Rhino. One of her summer highlights was the Richland County Fair where she pitched a tent, cared for her animals and enjoyed spending time with her friends. She loved her critters – hamster, parakeets, goldfish, bunnies, goats, and especially cats, as she had a habit of bringing home calicos.
Abby had a very generous heart and a perpetual smile. Along with all of her other activities, she always found the time to help with the Shiloh Ox Roast contributing wherever she was needed. Her friends and family meant the world to her and they cherished their times together. Abby was loved by all who knew her, and she will be sadly missed by everyone!
