Donald Ray “Don” Godby

Donald Ray “Don” Godby, age 59, of Crestline, died Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Avita Ontario Hospital after a series of short illnesses.

Don was born March 20, 1959 in Shelby, the son of the late William H. and Edna L. (Adams) Godby. He was a 1977 graduate of Shelby High School. Don was an avid bowler and golfer. He loved his fast cars and throughout the years had several different ones including Corvettes and Porsches.

Don is survived by his fiancé, Pam Lynch, and her daughter: Kelsi (Jason) Kitzmiller all of Crestline; 2 sons: Joshua (Emily) Godby of Florida and Jeremy (Ashley) Godby of South Carolina; 8 grandchildren: August, Declan, and Castle Godby, Jackson Godby, Trinity Lynch, Zachary Hopewell, and Gunner and Hudson Kitzmiller; 6 siblings: Dorothy Maynard of WV, Opal Wulderk of FL, Mary (Jim) Kennedy of FL, Jim (Peggy) Godby of FL, Lucy Sigler of CA, and Sylvia (Mike) LeClair of Willard; a sister-in-law: Pat Godby; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Bob Godby, Bill Godby, and Tom Godby.

At Don’s request, calling hours and funeral services will not be observed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Ohio, 2831 Prospect Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44115. Care for Don and his family is being provided by Jake, Bob, and Catherine at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby.

    I don’t know what to say. I’m shocked. Thursday? God Bless his family. Don was a lifelong buddy. At one point, we were inseparable. What a helluva fight he put up with! I truly know that Don is in heaven – Ace

    I’m still so shocked by his passing. What a wonderful man. I remember him saying to you Pam “I will be alright sweetheart”. After a courageous fight he truly is alright.God has blessed him with a perfect Heavenly body now. God Bless him and all those who knew him and loved him.

    Howard and I are so sorry for your loss, Pam! I did not know Don well. However, my first impression of him was when he was clearly battling his own health issues, he asked and was concerned about other family members health. I thought “wow, he is a very special person”. I know this is a loss for your mom and Kelsie as well. My hope is you all find peace and comfort soon!

    To Don & his family- I just learned of Don’s passing. Please accept my most sincere condolences. Don and I graduated from high school together. I recall Don as being one of the good guys. I will keep him and his family in my thoughts and prayers.
